When our lives are interrupted by adverse events, we make sense of those events through storytelling allowing ourselves to create meaning and connect with others.
This course will benefit anyone with an interest in qualitative research methods; especially those who believe in the central role of context in creating meaningful data. A basic knowledge of qualitative research would be beneficial for attending the course.

- Understand the definition, characteristics, function and purpose of Narrative
- Appreciate the difference between conventional Research Interviewing practice and Narrative Interviewing
- Understand Narrative Transcription as a part of the process of Interpretation
- Understand and describe the key principles and techniques of four specific forms of Narrative Analysis:
- Thematic Narrative Analysis
- Structural Analysis
- Performance Analysis
- Visual Analysis
- Appreciate validity in Narrative (Narrative Truths) and understand how to establish the trustworthiness of the stories collected and the analytic stories developed from them.
